Academics
The classical curriculum at Grace Lutheran School is Bible-centered and supports our credo, philosophy, and objectives of a Christian education. The Christian faith is taught not only as an added subject area but as a way of life permeating the total curriculum. As the child progresses through the grades he learns more and more the chief doctrines of the Bible. In order to further help him in his spiritual life the child systematically learns from memory the chief parts of Christian doctrines, prayers, Bible verses, and hymns. All children enrolled at Grace must take part in religion instruction. In addition to religion, our well-rounded program of studies includes reading, language arts, history, science, math, health and physical education, art, music, and computer. All subjects are taught with a Christian approach and given a Christian interpretation.
"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6

Grace Lutheran House System (New for Fall 2023)
The House System at Grace Lutheran School is designed to promote a greater sense of community, friendship, and school spirit. It will connect students across grade levels as they have opportunities to work, worship, and play together.
The House names at GLS consist of Latin names that are descriptors of the Gospels: Vir (Matthew, Man); Leo (Mark, Lion); Bovis (Luke, Ox); and Aquila (John, Eagle).
-
House of Vir (Matthew, Man)
-
House of Leo (Mark, Lion)
-
House of Bovis (Luke, Ox)
-
House of Aquila (John, Eagle)
The students’ random placement into these houses will be announced during a ceremony at the beginning of the school year. The Houses will be together during Opening, Closing, and Chapel, among other house activities throughout the year. Students will earn points for their respective Houses throughout the year by displaying positive behavior traits, lending help when needed, and participating in various activities. The point systems for these Houses will be on display and updated weekly on a bulletin board in the gym.
The House System increases a sense of belonging and purpose as students work together towards common goals. Our high school students will be tasked with leadership opportunities as they encourage and mentor the younger students. In turn, the younger students will learn valuable lessons as they grow in understanding the expectations of them as students in a Christ-centered academic setting.
Opening, Closing & Chapel
The Holy Word of God recorded in the apostolic Scriptures of the Old and New Testament is central to a classical, Christian education that seeks not only good minds, but good hearts. Students learn to be those wise students in Christ from the timeless truth of God’s Word daily heard and studied in the halls of Grace Lutheran School.
Opening & Closing
Students begin the day in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit before reciting Scripture and a portion of Luther’s Small Catechism. The Apostles Creed and Lord’s Prayer are also recited daily. Closing ends with a prayer and students singing praise to God.
Christian Flag Pledge
"I pledge allegiance to the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the faith for which it stands, one Savior, eternal, with mercy and grace for all, so help me God."
Pledge of Allegiance
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
Texas Pledge
"Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible."
Chapel
Every Wednesday the GLS chapel service takes place in the Grace Lutheran sanctuary. Here the Word of God is proclaimed in a church service offered online and open for everyone. Right thinking comes with faith that recognizes our sin and the great gift of salvation found in Christ alone.
Parents may attend chapel on Weds. Please join us. We also live stream the Weds. chapel service on Facebook.

Pre-K2, Pre-K3 & Pre-K4
The GLS preschool is first and foremost just that—a school. Kids beginning at age two can come and begin learning colors, shapes, and numbers. Preschool teachers are divided in three classes: Pre-K 2, Pre-K 3, and Pre-K 4 with a set curriculum in the morning before the afternoon daycare hours. These students also participate in the worship life of GLS, joining students in the morning and during the Wednesday chapel service.
